Course Overview

The Certificate III in Community Recreation is designed to give you all the skills for work in the aquatic industry as a pool life guard, pool operator and aquatic recreation leader. The course includes a level 2 First Aid, pool life guard qualification and pool operators qualification and a broad range of subjects including customer service and delivering aquatic recreation programs. Examples of the types of employment this Certification may lead to:

  • Operate a plant and equipment of an aquatic facility to maintain water quality to health standards;
  • Supervise other colleagues conducting basic maintenance tasks;
  • Facilitate a variety of recreation initiatives using a community development framework;
  • Plan and conduct a variety of recreation events, activities or promotions;
  • Work as part of a team to conduct Vacation Care/Holiday Programs for an aquatic recreation centre.
  • Plan and conduct activities to meet the needs of clients.

Training Strategy

The MSAC Institute of Training develops a customised training strategy with clients to select the best training delivery options. The strategy is unique to each business and meets the needs of both clients and their employees.

The MSAC Institute of Training can provide customised training to clients through a range of flexible delivery options including:

  • Workplace-based training
  • Training workshops in small groups
  • Individual training and mentoring
  • Off-the-job training at MSAC in Albert Park
  • Combined options of training delivery

Duration

Flexible delivery and course start dates with approximately 4 months part time study in a self paced or flexible delivery mode.

Cost

$495*

*This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government Funding if eligibility criteria are met.  Eligible applicants pay just $495 per Certificate level or $187 per Certificate level with a valid Concession card. For non eligible applicants, the full cost of this course is $1,900.
