Aquatic Maintenance for Hotels & Motels

Course Overview

The program is designed for managers and staff responsible for the maintenance and operation of swimming pools and spas located in Hotels and Motels.

Participants will be provided with a comprehensive and practical review of the skills and knowledge required to ensure professional and accurate adherence to the Standards and current Legislation. It is highly recommended that people responsible for a Hotel or Motel's aquatic facility hold this qualification.

Participants will receive training in the following key areas:

  • water circulation and the concept of filtration
  • disinfection systems
  • pH and total alkalinity
  • hot water environments and spa pool operation
  • plant room design
  • workplace occupational health and safety specific to an aquatic environment

At the completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • operate and maintain swimming pools and spas in accordance with the current standards and requirements under the Public and Environmental Health Act
  • explain current functioning, circulation and filtration systems
  • operate a variety of water disinfection systems
  • provide an appropriate chemical balance of pool water

Upon successful completion of the required assessment participants will receive a Statement of Attainment from the MSAC Institute of Training for the nationally accredited unit of competency SRCAQU004B Maintain Pool Water Quality.
