Certificate IV in Community Recreation

 

Course Overview

The Certificate IV in Community Recreation is designed to reflect the role of those who operate within a broad range of varied contexts that may be complex and non-routine. Leadership and guidance are involved when organising activities of self and others, as well as contributing to technical solutions of a non-routine or contingency nature.

Occupations include Recreation Officers (large facilities/organisation), Instructor in Charge, Duty Manager (and other titles) working in a recreation facility or environment. Employees supervise individuals or teams undertaking programs such as learn to swim, in a recreational facility.

Examples of the types of work this person could do are:

  • act as Duty Manager to ensure smooth day to day operations of a specific area of a recreation facility
  • supervise staff responsible for the operation of the plant and equipment of an aquatic facility
  • organise the recreation programs and activities for a facility or organisation
  • plan and conduct a variety of complex recreation events, activities or promotions
  • coordinate Vacation Care/Holiday Programs for a recreation organisation/facility
  • supervise a team of activity specific instructors (Learn to Swim programs).

Victorian Traineeship durations

Full Time:  24 months

Part Time:  48 months
