James Scully
Certificate III in Community Recreation
James commenced a school-based Certificate III in Community Recreation while working as a lifeguard at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC), combining his year 12 studies with industry specific learning at the MSAC Institute of Training.
Upon finishing school, James completed his qualification part time, working around his commitments as a Victorian Football League Umpire. James undertook industry based units such as pool operations, emergency response and groups nad participated in a range of professional development sessions to develop team work and self assessment tools.
Upon Completion of his certificate in 2011 James has continued as a valued member of staff at MSAC. His commitment and achievements to the traineeship were recognised with a Skills Hub Traineeship Award, presented at the Sport and Art Industry Training Awards.
Throughout his SPortFutures Traineeship, James gained many valuable life experiences that will be pivitol as he moves to the next stage of his career.
